Job Description – Head, Engineering
Reporting to the Head, Technical & Construction Services, establish, lead, and manage the engineering section of the company’s core project delivery team that will be responsible for the following:
- In cooperation with subject matter experts within the company’s development teams, develop the engineering criteria to apply to company’s solar, wind, storage and transmission projects.
- Working with the company’s development teams:
- Provide technical input to the project definition stage for projects; and
- develop the technical requirements for project procurements (engineering, components supply, EPC contracts, construction contracts, etc.).
- Review & approve all engineering submissions by project counterparties during execution.
- Where projects employ Owner’s Engineers (“OEs”), provide technical direction to, and take accountability for the work product of the OEs.
- Provide technical oversight to the site engineers installed at project construction sites.
- Provide engineering support for resolution of technical issues during construction, commissioning, and energization.
- Provide technical input requested from the company’s O&M group in respect to procurement of services to support operations.
- Provide engineering support for capital improvement/maintenance projects undertaken by the company’s O&M group.
- Provide engineering support for resolution of technical issues arising during plant operations.
The ideal candidate needs to have something like 20 years of experience, including practical execution (i.e., engineers who have only served in consulting role probably would not meet that requirement). I need people who know how stuff gets built.
