Job Title: M&E Engineer (Instrumentation & Control)
Location: HPC Site-Based (Hinkley Point C)
Rate: Up to £420 - 430/day Inside IR35 inclusive of travel and accomdoation
Contract End Date: 31/12/2025 (initial)
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced I&C Engineer to support the Joint Design Office (JDO) at Hinkley Point C (HPC). The role will primarily involve review and acceptance of engineering queries from the DMIC contractor related to the I&C scope within both Conventional Island / Balance of Plant (CI/BOP) and Nuclear Island buildings.
You will play a key part in overseeing engineering changes during critical commissioning phases, including Unit 2 Polar Crane, Demin Water Plant, Auxiliary Transformer, and support for hydrotesting in the Turbine Hall.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and respond to technical documentation: General Queries, Non-Conformances, Change Requests, and Exemption Requests.
Provide assurance that nuclear safety and environmental regulations are met.
Support commissioning and interface management across multiple disciplines.
Contribute to the resolution and closure of Open Points (OPs).
Liaise closely with site contractors, quality, construction, and design teams.
Assist with coordination of external support when required.
Report to the Engineering Lead and maintain alignment with project strategies and design intent.
Requirements:
Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, I&C, or relevant Engineering discipline.
Proven experience in I&C design, installation, or commissioning.
Multidisciplinary knowledge of technical issues within the nuclear sector.
Familiarity with construction/installation processes and site operations.
Working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, including CDM and Nuclear Site License.
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, especially in a live site environment.
Proactive, independent, and effective at escalating issues when necessary.
