Senior Capex Project Manager (Remote)

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Capex Project Manager to join our Engineering group and execute large capital projects. This remote-based position will report to the Director of Engineering and offers an exciting opportunity to impact our company's growth and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the design, construction, commissioning, and start-up of domestic capital projects ranging from $20MM to $60MM in size, including upgrades and expansions of existing facilities as well as new facilities.
  • Prepare project scopes, cost estimates, authorization requests, schedules, basic engineering, and detailed design construction packages.
  • Direct and manage project execution to achieve stated objectives safely.
  • Coordinate and lead internal/external teams and third-party engineering firms.
  • Anticipate and identify areas of risk, conducting proactive risk assessments and implementing countermeasure/mitigation strategies.
  • Use established PM tools and techniques to stay within authorized budget limits and achieve overall project and organizational objectives.
  • Effectively communicate project status to stakeholders and senior leadership through meetings and updates.

Travel:

Domestic travel requirements estimated to be 30%.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 20 years’ experience in managing large capital projects in industries such as specialty chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or food.
  • Proven ability to successfully design, construct, and commission capital equipment and systems in operating chemical plants.
  • Experience with project scheduling (MS Project, Primavera, etc.), cost control, and cost forecasting.
  • Demonstrated experience with SAP or equivalent.
  • Working understanding of P&IDs along with a basic understanding of industry and governmental standards for design and construction.
  • Excellent computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills, including the ability to lead multi-discipline teams and motivate others.

Preferred:

  • Corporate-level owner-side large project management experience.
  • Master of Science degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Formal Project Management certification (e.g., PMI or CII).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Capital project estimating skills.
  • Hands-on field experience in chemical manufacturing facilities with process and equipment commissioning, safety reviews, performance testing, and troubleshooting.
