Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant, Operations to join our team. This role is responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting of operational assets, primarily within the renewable energy sector. The ideal candidate will work closely with key business partners across Asset and Investment Management, providing critical insights and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data across projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain the general ledger for operational renewable energy assets.
Prepare and book journal entries for the complete operational portfolio.
Act as a financial business partner to both Asset Management and Investment Management teams.
Manage the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Provide variance analysis and narrative commentary on budget vs. actual and month-over-month results.
Analyze project performance, identifying key financial impacts and risks.
Prepare quarterly unaudited financial statements required by lenders.
Support year-end audit processes by preparing schedules and relevant documentation.
Deliver financial data for monthly operations reporting.
Ensure timely debt service payments and equity distributions.
Coordinate with Accounts Payable to process withdrawal transfer certificates and facilitate payments from depository accounts.
Partner with AP and Treasury teams to manage project-level payments and cash flow.
Assist with the development and review of solar asset budgets; monitor budget adherence and provide ongoing analysis.
Perform and maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations.
Understand tax equity structures and ensure accurate accounting at the partnership level.
Execute waterfall accounting entries for partnership structures.
Collaborate with construction teams during project handovers and throughout asset lifecycle.
Maintain full ownership of assigned asset financials; confidently explain financial performance and variances.
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in energy or infrastructure
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting
Proven ability to analyze financial data and provide meaningful insights
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally
Familiarity with tax equity structures and partnership accounting is a plus
