We are working with an established engineering consultancy looking to add an experienced Water/Wastewater Senior Project Manager to its growing team in the Houston area.
This is a senior, client-facing position suited to a Professional Engineer with a strong background delivering municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will lead projects from planning and design through delivery while managing client relationships, mentoring engineers, and supporting the continued growth of the practice.
The Role
As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing both smaller assignments and large, multidisciplinary water and wastewater projects.
Responsibilities will include:
Lead municipal water and wastewater projects from initial planning through design and delivery.
Manage project scope, schedule, budgets and overall project performance.
Lead the preparation of plans, specifications, technical reports and engineering studies.
Deliver projects involving water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants and associated municipal infrastructure.
Manage feasibility studies, preliminary engineering reports and evaluation studies.
Act as the primary point of contact for municipal clients and other project stakeholders.
Attend and lead meetings with clients, regulatory agencies and project teams.
Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and subconsultants.
Provide technical oversight and ensure designs meet applicable codes, regulations and quality standards.
Manage and mentor engineers and technical staff.
Allocate project resources based on workload, experience and availability.
Monitor project performance including schedule, budget, billings, QA/QC and client satisfaction.
Support preparation of proposals and Statements of Qualifications.
Participate in business development and help develop relationships with existing and prospective clients.
Provide technical coaching and knowledge transfer to developing engineers.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas, or ability to obtain Texas registration through reciprocity.
Approximately 10+ years of progressive engineering consulting experience.
At least 5 years of project management and design experience.
Strong experience delivering municipal water and wastewater projects.
Design experience involving water treatment plants and wastewater treatment plants.
Experience working with Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs), municipalities, water authorities or similar public-sector clients.
Strong understanding of project scope, budgets, schedules and multidisciplinary project delivery.
Experience managing and mentoring engineering staff.
Strong client-facing and relationship-management skills.
Ability to prepare technical reports, proposals and engineering documentation.
Experience supporting business development and proposal/SOQ preparation is highly desirable.
Knowledge of TCEQ and Texas municipal water/wastewater requirements is strongly preferred.
