Pre Development Manager - South Italy

Position Title: Development Manager

Location: Rome/Southern Italy – Remote


A renewable energy company is seeking a Development Manager to support its growing operations across Southern Italy. This key role involves leading projects from early-stage development through to the Ready-To-Build (RTB) phase. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project milestones including land acquisition, permitting, interconnection, and stakeholder coordination, ensuring that projects are de-risked and investment-ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify new greenfield opportunities in renewable energy and energy storage.
  • Lead development efforts to progress projects to RTB status.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to achieve critical development milestones, managing budgets and schedules effectively.
  • Maintain comprehensive project databases, mapping, and tracking tools.
  • Support commercial and market engagement efforts for project portfolios.
  • Conduct regional market and competitive analysis as needed.
  • Foster industry and community relationships to facilitate project advancement.
  • Develop and implement effective systems, controls, and reporting for transparent management of multiple projects across jurisdictions and technologies.
  • Support operational oversight and performance tracking of development projects.
  • Promote clear communication and ensure cohesive project direction during development phases.
  • Participate in due diligence for project acquisition opportunities.
  • Provide development input during engineering, procurement, construction, and financing phases.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
  • Travel extensively within Italy (50%+).


Education / Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant project development discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in renewable energy.
  • Proven track record in the acquisition and development of utility-scale wind, solar, and/or energy storage projects.
  • Experience in the origination and pre-construction phases of large-scale renewable projects is an asset.
  • Fluent in both Italian and English, with strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated with high energy, adaptability, and the ability to operate independently and as a leader on the ground.
