Senior Civil Engineer – Power Generation
Location: Moneypoint, County Clare, Ireland
Contract: 18 months

Spencer Ogden is currently supporting a major energy organisation with the appointment of a Senior Civil Engineer to support ongoing maintenance, refurbishment and infrastructure projects at a large power generation facility in County Clare.
This is a site-based position offering the opportunity to work across a broad range of civil and structural engineering activities, including existing infrastructure, structural steelwork, drainage systems, corrosion protection and major infrastructure upgrades.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver civil and structural engineering services from feasibility and design through to construction.
Lead and coordinate civil and structural engineering activities associated with maintenance, refurbishment and infrastructure upgrades.
Manage civil and structural inspection programmes across station infrastructure.
Oversee drainage system inspections, testing and upgrade works.
Manage bund testing and upgrade programmes.
Coordinate roof, louvre and associated structural maintenance works.
Support inspection and maintenance of jetty infrastructure and cathodic protection systems.
Coordinate chimney, ash handling facility and other structural inspections.
Investigate existing civil and structural issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
Manage contractors and subcontractors throughout the delivery of construction and maintenance works.
Support procurement, tendering and contract management activities.
Coordinate site investigations, assessments, feasibility studies, design and construction activities.
Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering, project and operational teams.
Manage technical risks, project programmes and delivery against agreed scope, budget and timescales.
Support new infrastructure projects that interface with the existing generating station.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with relevant quality, health and safety and environmental requirements.
Requirements:
Degree-qualified Civil Engineer or equivalent, ideally Level 8 or above.
Minimum 5 years' relevant civil/structural engineering experience.
Strong onsite construction and project delivery experience.
Demonstrable experience delivering civil and structural engineering packages.
Strong technical knowledge across civil and structural engineering.
Experience managing contractors, subcontractors and consultants.
Good commercial and project management capability.
Experience identifying, assessing and managing technical project risks.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Full driving licence valid for driving in Ireland.
Legal right to work in the Republic of Ireland.
Desirable:
Experience within power generation, energy, heavy industrial or major infrastructure environments.
Experience with structural steelwork rehabilitation and corrosion protection.
Experience with drainage, bunds, wastewater/interceptor systems or marine infrastructure.
Experience working on large industrial or generating-station sites.
Experience with construction frameworks and contract implementation.
Experience performing PSDP duties and familiarity with PSCS responsibilities.
Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
Level 9 engineering qualification.
Additional Requirements:
Candidates will be required to hold current SafePass and Manual Handling training and be able to comply with site PPE and safety requirements.
This is a full-time, site-based contract offering the opportunity to work on significant infrastructure and maintenance projects within a major power generation environment.
